There is a certain level of mystery surrounding psychics and psychic abilities. Information published all around the web can conflict, but we at Keen have worked with all kinds of psychic advisors since 1999 and have compiled this FAQ to demystify what it’s truly like to sit down and have a psychic reading.
While psychic ability and intuition are available to us all, some people are born with natural gifts or talents. Most psychics report having some kind of “paranormal” skills in childhood that they choose to practice and develop. Some learn through trying different tools, like astrology or Tarot, while others just find themselves falling into an advisor role over time.
Intuition is always speaking in every person. It’s the small, voice, the hunch, the gut feeling, the last minute change of mind. But you have to be listening and then choose to act on that hunch or feeling. Intuitive guidance is received.
Psychic ability is not different than intuition. It is merely the intuitive faculty that has been paid attention to, developed, and honed. It is directed and conscious use of intuition.
The Internet exists, yet it doesn’t actually occupy a physical location. It’s a collection of energy, if you will, with millions of portals for logging in. You can access it with your computer, phone, tablet—and from anywhere in the world. Your energy field, and any other field of reference that a psychic accesses (astral planes, Akashic records, other dimensions, etc.), is like the Internet: it’s a collection of energy that can be accessed by anyone, anywhere.
Do you love texting? Messaging your friends on Facebook or Snapchat? If you feel most comfortable in an instant messaging type of format, then you will probably enjoy getting a psychic reading via online chat.
I find that my younger clients appreciate the familiarity of this format. Also, some first time, nervous clients select this option because there is still a degree of anonymity provided by the lack of voice contact. Your emotions don’t have to show, and it feels easier to end the session if you feel you need to go.
How you receive a reading is up to your personal preference and what is available to you locally. If you don’t live in a location where you can see a psychic in-person, then obviously your options are narrowed to phone, email, or online readings. There are pros and cons for each, and I recommend you try different formats to see what you like best.
It’s common to be nervous when doing something new. If you haven’t had a psychic reading, it’s natural to be curious, skeptical, afraid—and it’s natural to feel these things even if you have had a reading before! Although it may seem irrelevant which psychic you pick—since they are all going to access the “truth,” right?—choosing your advisor is just as important as picking the right therapist. I see a lot of clients and don’t really keep track of how often they call. But sometimes clients will start checking in weekly, daily, or even more frequently, and then I know it’s time to intervene. While it’s great to have a regular relationship with your psychic, you can get too many psychic readings.
It can be very helpful if you have a regular psychic “check-up.” I have many clients who check in once a month, usually within the first week, so we can take a look at the month and what they need help with. This has helped us create a relationship, which actually makes their psychic work more effective.
It’s common for people to be unsure about contacting a psychic. There is so much misinformation about what psychics do and how we act—much of which is fueled by TV or movies and isn’t very true or flattering. The good news is, there isn’t anything to be afraid of when contacting a psychic.
When I was developing my own psychic abilities, I explored Nordic Runes. I devoured books about shamans and wise-folk that divined using bones, animal entrails, or tea leaves. It was all so fascinating. The important thing to remember is that tools like these help psychics channel their abilities but don’t impact the quality of the reading—just how you get the information.
More often than not, psychics are not in the employ of dark forces, and all of their services come from a place of love and intention for the highest good of all. But the word of most intuitives and psychics isn’t enough for some, and, ultimately, only you can decide for yourself if meeting with a psychic will go against your personal religious beliefs.
