Between the numbers charts, tarot cards, spiritual healers and remote seers, it may be challenging at times keeping all these terms straight. As psychic abilities vary, so do the tools they utilize in helping them with their readings. While sometimes their tools are tangible things, like cards or crystals, their tools are also intangible things. This is where the understanding between a Psychic and a Medium get a little muddy. But don’t worry! We’re here to clear the confusion.
Psychics
In our article about psychic abilities, we point out that not all psychics are created equal. They have an abundance of supernatural talents when it comes to connecting to energy around you and giving you a psychic reading. The main types of psychics are what we call clairs (French for ‘clear’). Clairvoyants, claircognizants, clairaudients, and clairsentients perceive information through extrasensory methods. By identifying information hidden from the normal senses, every psychic provides a unique insight into a situation or path.
Clairvoyant psychics (with the power of seeing objects or actions beyond the range of natural vision) can see the past, present and future, making them highly sought after to discuss topics of love and relationships, finances, or spiritual wellness. Clairsentients (psychics that perceive through strong physical sensations, often described as “gut feelings”) can touch and feel what us average human beings cannot, such as energy or the hand of a loved one who has passed on. Clairaudients (psychics that perceive information through messages they hear) can hear what a deceased loved one is saying. Every psychic has a different skill, and each is special and unique.
Mediums
While a psychic may not be a medium, all mediums are psychic. However, a psychic medium’s skill goes one step further. A medium uses his or her psychic or intuitive abilities to see the past, present and future events of a person by tuning into the spirit energy surrounding that person. This means mediums rely on the presence of non-physical energy outside of themselves for the information relevant to the person being read. A medium has fine-tuned his or her extrasensory perception and can interface with the spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices or mental impressions from the spirit world.
The most helpful method of differentiating between a psychic and a medium is remembering that Psychics Perceive and Mediums Receive. This information will be most useful in determining whom to turn to when you’re seeking guidance or new insights based on your unique inquiry.
