Sun in Gemini: Talking About Love

Of all the signs in the zodiac, Gemini is the one that enjoys conversation the most. Even if you are not a Gemini, while the sun makes its annual spring visit to this sign, you will notice a rise in the enjoyment of communication, the exchanging of information and the absorption of experiences to satisfy deeper curiosities.

This year, the sun enters Gemini on May 20 and is there until June 21. In 2010, there are a few interesting planetary aspects occurring while the Sun visits Gemini that will put a different spin on this annual solar sojourn. The first noteworthy planet is Mercury. This is the planet that rules Gemini. Mercury had been retrograde in Taurus until early in May. When the Sun moves into Gemini, the planet Mercury will be moving forward through the parts of Taurus where it had been retrograde. This means that the first ten days of the Sun’s visit to Gemini will be spent cleaning up a communication mess from the recent past. After May 30, though, you will be surprised to find some new experiences waiting for you. In fact you may get overwhelmed with lots of new challenges.

A rare planetary shift occurs on May 27. The planet Uranus takes seven years to move through a zodiac sign and will be departing Pisces for Aries on this date. This is the planet that rules big events and in moving into Aries, it is crossing over to the beginning of the zodiac. This will be a signal of new beginnings worldwide, as Aries is the sign of moving forward, unimpeded by the past. This will not only add more intensity to the new experiences on their way in the final three weeks of the sun’s Gemini visit, it will also signal subtle but absolute hints of how the next seven years will be going as your zodiac sign adapts to the new location of the planet Uranus.

A bigger, and perhaps more impactful and intense astrological move is the planet Mars entering the zodiac sign of Virgo on June 7. Ordinarily, the red planet changes signs quite often, but in a rare alignment, Mars has been in the zodiac sign Leo since October 15. This in-sign stagnation is almost unprecedented in astrology. What this means for us is that Mars has a lot of pent up energy and it will be unleashed beginning June 7. Because Mars has entered Virgo on that date, the concerns for us on earth will be about details. Since zodiac Gemini is tense with the sign Virgo, look for the rush of detail-mania to make the second week of June chaotic with small, overlooked things.
