OCTOBER 17 – OCTOBER 23: Excessive Illusions and Passions

The Week beginning October 17 starts with way too much of a good thing. Mercury, the planet of communication, opposes Jupiter, the planet of excess. This is a set-up for “promises, promises.” Don’t fall for any of them. People everywhere will be seeking big rewards and big returns, making big boasts ahead of time and even bigger excuses afterward.

When the planet Mercury is in harmony around the zodiac, words turn into deeds. When the tension of the opposition manifests, it is usually with misunderstandings at best and terrible miscommunication at worst. Oppositions to the planet Jupiter are the astrological extra scoop of ice cream that you should never have ordered.

Look for the start of the week to be built on shaky facts and even flimsier scheduling. As the week wears on, the Moon’s visit to Leo should make most of the early week plans crumble under the weight of some grand drama and juicy gossip. Leo is the sign of theatrics and self-centered motivation, so watch the folks who talked a good game on Monday point the finger of blame in every direction except where it belongs: back at themselves.

The Mood gets a lot lighter by Friday night when the Sun in Libra harmonizes with Neptune in Aquarius. The Sun rules the human ego and harmony with our nearest star always signals a good time ahead. Getting along with Neptune assists everyone in following a dream or achieving a goal.

The only downside to this is that if the crazy communication from earlier in the week is still out there, it will be all too easy for people to base their itineraries on faulty communication and illusions about what can be accomplished. The weekend could be a wild goose chase of seeking to scratch an itch that isn’t really even there.
